Diving with Thresher Sharks!

I thought I couldn’t do anything cooler than the day before, but I DID. I woke up at 4am to go to Fun & Sun for a chance to dive with Thresher Sharks and to do my deep dive part of Advanced Lessons. I just had to at least start with my lessons on the island that made it all possible in the first place. The boat arrived at Monod Shoal, also called Shark Point, at sunrise about 6am I think. This dive site is world famous and I get to dive her on my fifth time scuba diving. It is considered a cleaning station for Thresher Sharks which are rare and timid sharks. In the back of my head I told myself we wouldn’t see one. I didn’t feel scared I think because I grew to really trust Dor in the time he has worked with me. We dove down  to the line joining lots of other scuba divers. We completed my color test and started to look around. I though we weren’t gonna see one when BANG! One swam by. WOW! I was so excited. If you could see past my regulator you would have seen me smiling from ear to ear. I just couldn’t believe it! A lot of divers left and shortly after. Two more swam in front of me. I looked to the left and one was swimming towards me and turned before he got too close.  It was amazing. When we surfaced Dor was just as excited for me as I was. Coolest thing I have every done in my life. I was on a high on life!

I had taken my suitcases to Fun & Sun that morning because once I got back I knew we would be leaving the island. We boarded a boat to take us back to Maya. I was so sad to leave. Malapascua Island has changed me so much. It taught me new hobbies I now love and helped me over come some fears. I made so many new friends with locals and other travelers. I have had the best days of my life here. with memories/experiences that I can’t believe happened. I will come back one day that is no question.

This time we paid to get our own private van to Moalboal. It was worth every penny. We could actually be comfortable for the ride and we were all exhausted. It dropped us off at Emoik Guest House in Moalboal. We got there with enough time in the day to explore a little so we were gonna walk around, but found we were too fair away from the city, so we got a ride from a bike taxi. I thought it was so funny. I want to make one at home to drive around. It does fascinate me that the four of us plus the driver fit. We decided to ate at Ven’z Kitchenand. They were nice and let us play their uno game while we waited for our food. Rebecca and I are both competitive and disagreed on a lot of the rules. haha! We didn’t even finish a round before our food arrived. It thought it was good. We walked around a bit before we headed back to the homestay. I really wish we stayed closer to the city, but we saved a lot of money being at the homestay.
